CADDIS EMERGER: BEAD HEAD DEEP SPARKLE PUPA, LAFONTAINE (TM) (DOZEN FLIES).
The classic Gary LaFontaine deep caddis pupa pattern with an added bead head for faster riffles and for tumbling along the river bottom. Really deadly when fished in the Czech manner. The shroud of sparkle yarn gathers air bubbles and imitates the gas bubbles that some species of caddis use to reach the surface when hatching. The late Gary LaFontaine observed this behavior underwater when developing his now famous caddis pupa and emerger patterns. These flies will never fail you when caddis are active.
