FLY TYING MATERIALS: CUL DE CANARD (CDC FEATHERS) The Fly Fishing Place's CDC is superior in that it is re-treated with preen oil after dying! Dying CDC feathers compromises the natural oils, and most dyed CDC out there today isn't premium dyed and re-treated CDC like ours! Cul de canard feathers grow around the preen gland of the bird, which secretes the oil that ducks and geese use to preen and waterproof their feathers. The oil and the water-resistant properties of CDC feathers make them great for emergers, nymphs and dry flies that ride naturally in the surface film. 50-60 feathers per bag. FLY FISHING TIP: Flies tied with Cul de Canard or CDC offer superior flotation with no synthetic floatants required. In fact, using floatant on a CDC fly will ruin its properties!

FLY TYING TIP: Strip one side of the feather before tying in by the tip, then wrap spey hackle forward as you stroke the barbules backwards to get that nice spey look!
