STEELHEAD TUBE FLY: MARABOU SPEY RED ROCKET TUBE FLY (PLASTIC TUBE W/ HOOK) Tube flies have really gained popularity for winter steelheading. These marabou spey flies are tied on a 1-1/2" plastic tube and are about 3" long when swimming in the water. The special short-shanked hook is less damaging to fish that will be released, allows for more and better hook-ups, and doesn't give the steelhead the advantage of working a long-shanked hook against the current and working it loose. Additionally, if the hook is damaged or has been sharpened too much, it can be replaced without discarding the fly! Unlike tube flies you might buy elsewhere, each of our tube flies comes complete with a Size 4 TMC Model 105 short shank heavy wire hook. Simply run your leader tippet through the tube and tie on the hook, then snug the hook eye back up into the tube, and you're ready to fish.
