STEELHEAD FLY: MACK'S CANYON. Also known as Max Canyon. Originated by Doug Stewart in the 1970's and named for the Mack's Canyon stretch of the Deschutes River. The legend is that the name was changed to Max Canyon so no one would go fish near Mack's Canyon, but I think fly fishers are just bad spellers as a result of more fishin' than schoolin'. Excellent fall and winter steelhead fly.
